Getting that vintage flower look with this set

Just so iconic - getting a vintage flower look with this bone china set. What caught my eye was the bright vibrant colors of the flowers. Vintage bone china from Shropshire and Adderley Floral. so if you like bright oranges and greens take a look at this flower brooch and matching clip earrings.

We have called this set Autumn because of the color tones used. Ideal collectibles as many are now becoming harder to find that are not chipped or damaged. Although ones that are damaged can still be used. Just take the jewellery findings of carefully. A soak in warm water often helps first. Then use to decorate mirror or picture frames.

Adderley are just one of the potteries in Stoke on Trent that produced china jewellery in the mid twentieth century.

So English bone china brooches for an English summer

I love the beautiful English bone china brooches that were produced in the 1930s to the 1980s. Mainly in the potteries of Stoke On Trent in the UK where bone china English jewellery had the same hand crafted care as the fine bone china plates and cups. Some are signed and some are not.  Here are just a small selection that we have at the moment.

This Aynsley vintage viola brooch is edged in a gold paint and has the delicate flower captured just perfectly. Aynesley produced plenty of different designs in this oval shape. Some are from popular designs and some capture the English countryside of days gone by. 

Pretty pink rose lapel pin of bone china. The bone china was hand crafted and just captures the beauty of roses and other popular flowers.

Pale lavender coloured frilled vintage carnation brooch. A superb corsage to wear this summer. The bone china was first fashioned by hand and then hand painted, which makes them all unique.

Lapel pins are just so easy to wear and with the addition of vintage bone china are very unique. For Get Me Not flowers has the sentimental message ideal to give as a gift.

A few nibbles to this one by Dorothy Ann. Made in England around the 1950s.

Another small vintage lapel pin with flowers of a pink rose, white daffodil and blue yellow viola. they are just so English and still wearable today and great fun to collect. 

On Bone China Brooches, Earrings and Pendants

Summer special sale of some of our vintage jewellery. Today its reductions across the whole range of vintage bone china brooches, earrings and pendants. Names like Denton, Artone and Bilston. As well as many unsigned beauties.
Summer flowers in pretty colours of yellow, pink, green and blue, from the Staffordshire Potteries. Many now no longer in existence. Ideal to pin to summer hats and bags. Or to wear in the day or evening.

Spring jewellery for May

April has just flown by and with May just after this Bank Holiday weekend, I thought I would look at May.
Traditionally the birthstone for this month is the emerald, as well as used for the astrological signs of Taurus and Cancer.

The flower of this month is the white Lily of the Valley (association - making the right choice). For W. A. P. Watson and the Exquisite Birthday jewellery - they used the flower pansy (association - you are in my thoughts and the sacred sign of the Holy Trinity).

Vintage jewellery often depicts flowers. So looking around my garden blue Forget-me-nots (association - loyalty) are everywhere.

Purple Honesty (association - fascination) and the yellow tree peony (association - anger, indignation and shame) are out.

The garden Bluebells (association - constancy and humility) are also still in full bloom. Spring flowers of daffodils (association - respect, regard and chivalry), tulips (association - wealth and importance) and iris (association - passionate and love) can be seen along the roads.

So its quite easy to wear jewellery that is in season or give to someone who was born this month.
