Prehistoric animal jewellery display

 Showing my prehistoric jewellery display

Over the last 2 months. I have had a Halloween display and then changed it to a prehistoric animal jewellery display. Next of course will be some of the Christmas jewellery that I have collected.

Annual jewellery collections:

One of my yearly collections a few years back was to source cheap and cheerful costume jewellery in the shape of prehistoric animals. It had to be either new or second hand. At the time it was not popular, but the year after it took off. But I was onto another themed collection by that point. So this was the ones I collected.

Dinosaur bracelet stretch type

Silver metal stretch bracelet with black dinosaur images on. Brought this one new. Can change the images as required.

Green mammoth dinosaur brooch
Brought this at a Christmas fair at a school. It was a hand made mammoth dinosaur brooch in green plastic. Unfortunately the glue holding the mammoth was not strong enough. So will have to repair this one.
Ancient horse prehistoric brooch

Ancient horse prehistoric brooch back ceramic
Found this unusual ancient horse prehistoric brooch in ceramic. It depicts a horse that was drawn by a prehistoric man on cave walls. Had this up for sale for ages. No one was interested. So it went into my personal jewellery collection

All signed BJ.

Jonette jewellery or JJ or Artifact

JJ Or Jonette Jewelry

Also this company produced pieces under the brand name Artifact.

JJ – Jonette Jewelry company – This US company made many novelty jewelry pieces and associated accessories in their 62 years of production (1944 – 2006) However the founder Abraham Lisker became involved in producing jewelry earlier in 1935 and had two company names before. The first “The Providence Jewelry Company” and then “Lisker & Lisker” Famous for their novelty brooches in pewter, but they also used many other materials including, silver and gold tone, silver, brass and plastic. They also made some lines in enamel.
Classically their mark is JJ on the reverse. This was copyrighted and appeared in the seventies. They also used the name “Artifact” on their carding and boxes. This apparently started in 1986.
Below are the examples of JJ jewelry that we have found on my travels. Along with carding and marks for research. As usual with all our blogs on costume jewelry, this is an ongoing project and we will add photographs and information as we discover it.

Jewelcraft jewellery information and showcasing a few pieces

Jewelcraft jewellery from Coro.

This is a collection of Jewelcraft jewelry and a bit about this US company. Produced in Sussex and worn across the British Isles. This prolific produced jewellery’s history
One of the brand names used by the jewelry company Coro was Jewelcraft. It was used here in the UK quite a lot, because of the court case that Ciro Pearls the UK company had with Coro – over the right not to use their name here as it was too like their own. Ciro won and so Coro was not allowed to use their brand name of Coro here and that means that many of the pieces found here in the UK will be marked “Jewelcraft” or “Corocraft” instead. All the ones we will be showing are signed – unless they come within a set and at least one other is signed. But I will tell you about this when I show the jewelry.

In this blog we will gradually add the photographs and signatures of Jewelcraft jewelry that we have found and hopefully build up quite a jewelry library of images.

Green leaf enamel necklace by Jewelcraft

Faux pearl flower brooch signed Jewelcraft
This pretty faux pearl brooch is very large and very pretty. Cream faux pearls cover the flower head and it has a long stem.
Corocraft was another Coro mark. In the seventies and eighties, I can remember that when shopping most of the jewelry around was saying Corocraft. But few are found here today – I puzzled about this for a while. I think that the cards and boxes were signed but not the actual jewelry. Which will make it difficult to firmly identify.
Jewelcraft jewellery set of a bracelet and clip earrings
The above is a matching Jewelcraft jewelry set of a bracelet and earrings. In a light brown/taupe color. The bracelet is signed Jewelcraft but the earrings are unsigned. Without them being sourced together we would not have known they were from Coro.
As usual we will be adding more Jewelcraft jewelry photographs as we take and source more. So please bookmark this and all our jewellery blogs.
