Yes, I am still collecting jewellery

Yes I am still collecting jewellery

I haven't posted in a while as quite busy with other life events. However. I am contemplating how to display my growing collection of costume jewellery. I want to be able to see but have the items protected. So watch this space...

Flower brooch with ladybird by JJ
Pretty white floral brooch with a little ladybird on a petal. Loved this one and is by JJ. Jonette Jewelry. Sold a long time ago.
1970s bead and steel vintage necklace
A very stylish vintage necklace from the 1970s. Steel in silver tone with beads brightly coloured. Also sold a long time ago
Vintage jewellery set from Austria signed
Austrian vintage jewellery set of blue and brass clip earrings with matching necklace. Signed on the brooch. Now long gone. Can't remember if I sold this set or it was destroyed in the fire. Think it was the latter. Just a few oldies from my files.
More jewels soon....

Jonette jewellery or JJ or Artifact

JJ Or Jonette Jewelry

Also this company produced pieces under the brand name Artifact.

JJ – Jonette Jewelry company – This US company made many novelty jewelry pieces and associated accessories in their 62 years of production (1944 – 2006) However the founder Abraham Lisker became involved in producing jewelry earlier in 1935 and had two company names before. The first “The Providence Jewelry Company” and then “Lisker & Lisker” Famous for their novelty brooches in pewter, but they also used many other materials including, silver and gold tone, silver, brass and plastic. They also made some lines in enamel.
Classically their mark is JJ on the reverse. This was copyrighted and appeared in the seventies. They also used the name “Artifact” on their carding and boxes. This apparently started in 1986.
Below are the examples of JJ jewelry that we have found on my travels. Along with carding and marks for research. As usual with all our blogs on costume jewelry, this is an ongoing project and we will add photographs and information as we discover it.

The above is a fabulous novelty gardening set by JJ Jonette Jewelry. A watering can earrings pair and has a matching brooch with dangling gardening tools. Fabulous to wear to garden in or to a gardening event. This set I sold. The other pieces are still in my own collection.

When you find an older fairy brooch by JJ (Jonette Jewelry)

My latest find - A fairy brooch by JJ (Jonette Jewelry)

I always like JJ pieces. They produced many pewter brooches, earrings and other costume jewellery pieces from 1935 to about 2006. Jonette Jewelry uses the "JJ" copyright sign on the reverse of their pewter jewellery as well as the name Artifact. Looking at the information available on the internet. It looks like the companies copyright was taken over by another company Chelsea Int' Inc in 2007. They plan to release certain designs this year. So watch their jj website.

Back to my fairy brooch. As to all my usual finds - it came from a car boot. Very pretty in a purple sparkly enamel and pewter. Signed JJ on the reverse.

Fantasy jewellery to collect.

If you follow my blog, you will realise I like fantasy jewellery and so this fairy brooch will end up in my own collection. I probably won't actually wear it, but I intend to display this along with the other fairy, wizard and witch jewellery I have acquired over the years.

I have come across many other JJ jewellery brooches and earrings across the years. In fact I brought a cat brooch which was also by JJ a few weeks ago. Will have to get organised and dig out the others that I have. I own a pretty unicorn brooch and I think several wizard jewellery pieces.

If you like fantasy, witches, wizards, dragons, pumpkins and such - follow me on Instagram on my persona - Gothic_White_Witch.  Where I add quirky things that I have in my home and show black cat videos and did I mention my house spider....
